lieseonlife is where personal finance, civic engagement, and self-development meet. They go together, I promise.
I’m a thirty-something who spent the last decade doing all the “right” things. I was climbing the corporate ladder, bought a house, put roots down in one city. I’ve created a nice life for myself, but there is so much more I want out of life.
I want to pursue whatever interest strikes my fancy- learning new languages, dancing, playing piano, herbal medicine…I just realized that my dream life is a Victorian woman in the English countryside…
I’m also deeply frustrated by the things going on in my country and across the world. I feel completely useless, and yet I desperately want to do something that makes a difference.
In order to create the time and flexibility in my life to focus on the things that matter to me, I need to become financially independent. To me, this is having the freedom to choose where I want to focus the majority of my time without having money be a primary factor.
It will take a lot of change for me to achieve these things, as I have a keen ability to procrastinate by finding other “useful” ways to feel productive, ehem…cleaning. I will be exploring how to improve my habits, focus on what really matters, and live life on my own terms.
See? I told you they all go together.
